Z dniem dzisiejszym wszelkie sprawy i zagadnienia schodzą na plan dalszy. Całe nasze życie, publiczne i prywatne przestawiamy na specjalne tory, weszliśmy w okres wojny. Cały wysiłek narodu musi iść w jednym kierunku. Wszyscy jesteśmy żołnierzami. Musimy myśleć tylko o jednym - walka aż do zwycięstwa!
Ten dramatyczny komunikat Polskiego Radia z 1 września 1939 roku przywołał dzisiaj Wojciech Jagiełło, zastępca prezydenta. W uroczystościach w parku Pojednania upamiętniających wybuch II wojny światowej i jej ofiary wzięli również udział senator Grzegorz Peczkis, starosta Małgorzata Tudaj, przedstawiciele wojewody i marszałka województwa, kombatanci, Kresowianie, poczty sztandarowe szkół, przedstawiciele oświaty i służb mundurowych, kibice.
