Piotr Duk i Mateusz Zybała z Uczniowskiego Klubu Sportowego „Olimpijczyk” Kędzierzyn-Koźle wywalczyli złote medale mistrzostw Polski juniorów w zapasach w stylu klasycznym, które odbyły się w Radomiu.
Kędzierzyńscy zapaśnicy nie dali żadnych szans swoim rywalom. W finałowej walce w kategorii wagowej 84 kg Piotr Duk pokonał Filipa Kazimierczaka z GKS-u Bełchatów. Z kolei Mateusz Zybała, startujący w kategorii wagowej 120 kg, w walce o złoty medal okazał się lepszy od reprezentanta gospodarzy Marcelego Eliasa z Olimpijczyka Radom. W klasyfikacji drużynowej kędzierzyńscy sportowcy uplasowali się na wysokim, szóstym miejscu.
Piotr Duk i Mateusz Zybała znaleźli się także w gronie 31 miejskich sportowców, którzy do końca roku będą otrzymywać stypendia za świetne wyniki w międzynarodowym i krajowym współzawodnictwie uzyskane w 2016 roku.
