To coś więcej niż impreza sportowa. Opolska Sztafeta Pływacka Olimpiad Specjalnych to inicjatywa, która od 14 lat promuje aktywność fizyczną oraz wspiera integrację i solidarność z osobami z niepełnosprawnościami. Dodatkowo w symboliczny sposób oddaje hołd św. Janowi Pawłowi II.
Na pływalni w Śródmieściu, od porannego startu aż po nocną sztafetę, kolejne długości basenu pokonują setki uczestników. Każdy może wejść do wody i dołożyć swoją cegiełkę do wspólnego wyniku.
Wydarzenie odbywa się pod honorowym patronatem Biskupa Opolskiego, Prezydenta Miasta oraz Starosty Powiatu.
