30.01.2025 - A resilient local government in the face of crises. Our experiences have reached the world

Crises arrive unexpectedly, but we must always be prepared for them. An international conference on crisis and emergency situations was held in Halden, Norway. One of the panelists was the commander of the municipal police in Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Aleksy Ptaszyński reported on the course of the flood response operation in our city last September.

The event gathered 180 participants from Norway, Poland, Ukraine, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova, Hungary, and Romania. Local government officials shared their experiences and lessons learned from the challenging situations they had to face.

A particularly interesting part of the conference was the presentation of equipment supporting rescue operations: drones and robots that collect data on the location and physical condition of victims, as well as environmental contamination.

The project is co-financed in 85% with The Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA) 2014 – 2021 funds, and in 15% from the state budget.
