09.09.2025 - One step closer to the Swiss Funds

A team of women from Kędzierzyn-Koźle took Warsaw by storm. Mayor Sabina Nowosielska – together with Treasurer Joanna Hariasz and Beata Pierzchlewicz, Head of the Department of Strategy, Development and Aid – took part in a conference on Swiss funds.

The meeting brought together representatives of the finalists of the Polish-Swiss Urban Development Programme. Our local authority was also among this select group, having applied for funding of 80 million zlotys.

The conference was of a working and practical nature. The towns took part in workshops, consultations and one-to-one meetings with advisers. This enabled them to familiarise themselves with the ministry’s priorities and the Swiss side’s expectations, to benefit from the support offered by experts from the Association of Polish Cities, and to build a network of contacts.

As Polish towns and cities will be collaborating with Swiss local authorities on project implementation, considerable emphasis was placed on the specific nature of how the latter operate. Polish local authorities are interested in Swiss experience in areas such as vocational education, energy efficiency and healthcare.

It’s official! Record funding for Kędzierzyn-Koźle! Our town has secured over 80 million zlotys from the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme.

Our application was drafted with Swiss precision. We are among the top 19 local authorities in the country. This means development, investment and a future as high as the peaks of the Alps! This success tastes better than Swiss chocolate!

On 1 August, the official website of the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme announced that nineteen towns were on the verge of securing nearly 1.5 billion zlotys from Swiss funds. Kędzierzyn-Koźle is also among them.

16.07.2025 - We’ve done it! 80 million for Kędzierzyn-Koźle

Record funding for Kędzierzyn-Koźle! The town stands to receive as much as 80 million zlotys under the so-called Swiss funds. Our application was rated very highly by experts and ranked among the top entries in the national ranking. The list drawn up by the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy is now just awaiting approval by the Steering Committee.

Nearly 120 towns from across Poland applied for the call for proposals. Funding is likely to go to the top twenty. Kędzierzyn-Koźle came in at an impressive 14th place!

This is a huge success! All the more so because, as with the Norwegian funds, Kędzierzyn-Koźle may be the only town in the Opole Voivodeship to receive funding.

The amount applied for is over 80 million zlotys. Just how much is that?

• More than the cost of building the link road to the northern ring road,
• Nearly 20 per cent of the city’s total annual budget (2025),
• 65 per cent of the current investment budget,
• By way of comparison: the Norwegian funding that significantly transformed Kędzierzyn-Koźle amounted to around 20 million zlotys.

The funding secured from the Polish-Swiss Urban Development Programme ensures that key investment projects will be carried out, which will improve residents’ quality of life. Below are just a few of the projects that will be implemented:

• Reconstruction of the junction of Racławicka, Dunikowskiego and Łukasiewicza Streets in Koźle, and construction of a cycle path to Karpacka Street,
• Construction of a cycle path from Cisowa to Sławięcice (Fredry Street and Szpaków Street),
• Expansion of the municipal CCTV system,
• Thermal modernisation of Public Nursery School No. 5,
• Thermal modernisation of the Inland Navigation School Complex,
• Purchase of two electric buses,
• Upgrading of fire brigade and police equipment,
• Green car parks in the Piastów–Powstańców Śląskich housing estate,
• A biodiversity square in Kłodnica,
• Psychological and educational support for children and young people,
• Establishment of a youth centre,
• Preventative programmes for residents and senior citizens,
• Inclusive and intergenerational sporting, artistic and cultural events, and educational campaigns.

A website run by the Municipality of Kędzierzyn-Koźle, which is implementing a project co-financed by the Swiss Funds, which support the reduction of economic and social disparities within the European Union, and by the state budget.
