24.10.2026 - Interactive learning in every primary school
Learning is taking on a whole new dimension in our schools! Mobile devices have been delivered to all the city’s primary schools, combining education with physical activity and active play. One piece of equipment offers a wealth of possibilities!
Interactive images are projected onto the floor or a wall, whilst motion and touch sensors allow children to get involved in the activity. Over 340 apps and a set of accessories will help to liven up lessons, therapy sessions and group play.
The devices require no assembly. Simply unpack them and get them up and running. Thanks to their portable design, they can be moved between classrooms, bringing with them fresh ideas for engaging activities.
A total of 169,000 zlotys has been allocated for the purchase of 13 devices. This is another initiative carried out as part of the “ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle” project, funded entirely by the Swiss Funds.
23.10.2026 - A forest like this springs up in no time
Pupils at Primary School No. 16 in Sławięcice brought trees, plants and animals to life on paper. They were taken on this drawing adventure by Tomasz Samojlik, a children’s author and illustrator, who led the workshop ‘Come on, draw me a forest’.
Stroke by stroke, works emerged that were inspired by the natural world, yet also brimming with ideas and childlike imagination. Under the artist’s guidance, the young participants discovered how to create their own eco-themed comics and stories using just a few simple strokes.
The creative sessions were organised by the Municipal Public Library as part of a series of events supported by the Swiss Funds.
22.10.2026 - Young people can count on free support from a psychologist
Stress, anxiety, low mood, pressure regarding grades, or problems in relationships with peers and family. Pupils at all six secondary schools in Kędzierzyn-Koźle can access free support from a psychologist or social therapist. This support is provided by the Swiss Funds.
The support is aimed at young people from six schools in the town: Secondary Schools Nos. 1 and 2, School Complex No. 1, the Inland Waterway Transport School Complex, School Complex No. 3, and the Technical and General Education School Complex. You can seek help on your own initiative. Reasons for speaking to a specialist may include emotional problems, stress related to schoolwork, low self-esteem, conflicts with peers, family difficulties or social pressure. In the case of underage pupils, the consent of a parent or legal guardian is required.
There are two centres in the city where you can meet with an expert. Appointments must be booked in advance by telephone on 693 910 173.

Support for young people is not the only activity planned as part of the project. Secondary schools will be provided with psychological assessments, and teachers will take part in training sessions. The district will also launch a media campaign designed to raise awareness amongst young people of the forms of support available and to encourage them to seek help when they face difficulties.
Free psychological support forms part of a wider range of initiatives for young people being carried out as part of the ‘ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle’ project. The County Council is the operator of this initiative.
22.10.2026 - Residents’ voice in the ‘ReGeneration’ project
It is intended to act as a link between residents and the local authority. The Community Committee has begun its work and will support the implementation of the “ReGeneration of Kędzierzyn-Koźle” project. Its members will advise the mayor, put forward ideas and the needs of their communities, and monitor the implementation of projects funded by the Swiss Funds.
The committee comprises residents selected through an open recruitment process, as well as individuals nominated by the mayor and the county administrator. The first, inaugural meeting has now taken place. Committee members familiarised themselves with their tasks, divided up responsibilities and drew up a plan for future work. Tomasz Radłowski was elected chair, with Grzegorz Kucharzyk as his deputy.
The committee will work in collaboration with the city authorities and the team responsible for implementing the project. Its members will be able to participate in the planning, monitoring and evaluation of projects funded by the Swiss Funds. It also provides a forum for putting forward ideas and the needs of residents and the communities represented by the committee members. They will have access to the project documentation and the opportunity to observe its implementation at each stage.
21.10.2026 - Over 4 km of new cycle route. And this is just the beginning!
Between Cisowa and Sławięcice, the new cycle path is becoming increasingly visible. The route, stretching over 4 kilometres, will link the two estates, and the project is being carried out thanks to Swiss Funds. The work is scheduled for completion later this year.
The project is being carried out by the District Office, which is the town’s partner in the ‘ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle’ project.
However, that’s not the end of the good news for cyclists and motorists. There are also plans to resurface the road between the cemetery in Cisowa and Sławięcice, and to build the missing section of the cycle path. However, the project documentation must first be prepared, and the works are scheduled for 2028. This project is also to be financed by the Swiss Funds.
Before any concrete solutions are finalised, the Kędzierzyn-Koźle District Council invites residents to discuss the planned project. On 28 October at 9.00 am, a site walk will take place, during which participants will be able to share their comments and ideas. The meeting point is next to the wayside shrine in Miejsce Kłodnickie.
21.10.2026 - MOPS is becoming CUS. We look forward to your feedback
From November, a new organisation will appear on the map of local authority institutions. The Municipal Social Welfare Centre will be transformed into the Centre for Social Services (CUS). The change is intended not only to streamline existing forms of support for residents, but also to expand the range of services on offer.
This is more than just a name change. It represents a broader perspective on residents’ needs, better-tailored services and support for local initiatives. The CUS’s range of services will additionally include, amongst other things, mobile support for older people, individual psychological support, a children’s activity and development club, and a programme of developmental and empowerment workshops. Until 2029, all these services will be free of charge, and their delivery will be funded by the Swiss Funds.
Expanding the range of services requires the preparation of a strategic document: the ‘Programme of Social Services for Residents of the Municipality of Kędzierzyn-Koźle for 2027–2030’. Before it is adopted by the Town Council, it must undergo public consultation. This is an important stage during which residents and non-governmental organisations can submit their comments and proposals.
The consultation covers the whole town and is open to all residents. Opinions and proposals may be submitted in paper form, using a special form. Completed questionnaires should be delivered to the Municipal Social Welfare Centre at 2a Mikołaja Reja Street between 29 October and 4 November 2026.
20.10.2026 - Environmental awareness starts with everyday habits
Participants in the Occupational Therapy Workshops discovered how small changes to our daily habits can bring huge benefits to the environment. Eco-friendly habits were discussed during workshops at the Municipal Public Library.
During the ‘11 Steps for the Earth’ session, caring for the planet moved from lofty slogans to concrete examples. Participants learnt how to reduce waste, save water and energy, and shop more sensibly. They also looked at ways to protect nature and more eco-friendly modes of transport.
19.10.2026 - A break in play!
Bowling is taking a short break. It will be possible to book games again towards the end of the year. A thorough modernisation of the bowling alley at the Kazimierz Pietrzyk “Azoty” Sports and Entertainment Hall is currently underway. The project is being carried out thanks to Swiss Funds.
This is not merely a matter of giving the venue a fresh look, but a genuine transformation. Plans include, amongst other things, the installation of three complete bowling lanes, a new scoring and results display system, as well as LED lighting.
The bowling alley’s furnishings will also be updated. New seats, sofas, tables, a reception desk, a shoe cupboard and shelving for bowling balls will be installed.
The project, commissioned by the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre, is worth over 600,000 zlotys.
17.10.2026 - When clay brings generations together
Sometimes all it takes is a lump of clay to spark the imagination and create something special! That’s exactly what the family pottery workshops were like, combining creative activity with quality time spent together.
Children and their parents had the chance to learn the secrets of working with malleable clay, try their hand at modelling and give free rein to their creativity. The workshops also provided a space for integration, cooperation and relationship-building.
16.10.2026 - Kozielska Żegluga is undergoing an environmental transformation
It will look better, but above all, it will be warmer and more energy-efficient. Kozielska Żegluga is undergoing a thorough thermal modernisation, which will transform the school building and significantly reduce energy consumption. The project, worth nearly 4 million zlotys, is funded by the Swiss Funds.
The scope of the work is extensive. Around 90 old wooden windows have already been replaced with new, airtight PVC ones. The building’s thermal insulation has also been improved and the roof has been insulated. All the light fittings in the school have been replaced with energy-efficient LED lighting. External roller blinds have been fitted to the south-facing windows, which will help to reduce the temperature inside the rooms on sunny days.
However, this is not the end of the changes. Plans also include replacing the external doors and installing solar panels. As a result, the school will not only have a fresh new look, but, above all, it will become more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.
The work currently underway will be completed later this year.
15.10.2026 - How to revitalise a town? Kędzierzyn-Koźle looks to best practice
Revitalisation begins with people and places that encourage collective action. How do others go about it? Representatives from Kędzierzyn-Koźle were able to find out for themselves during a study visit to Włocławek.
Thanks to Swiss Funds, members of the City Revitalisation Committee, representatives of the Community Committee and chairpersons of the neighbourhoods of Śródmieście and Pogorzelec examined local ideas for engaging residents.
The programme for the visit was drawn up in collaboration with the Revitalisation Department of Włocławek City Council, members of the local Revitalisation Committee and the Institute for Urban and Regional Development. The itinerary included venues that bring the local community together and help to develop grassroots initiatives. Participants visited the Social Support Centre and the Centre for Non-Governmental Organisations and Volunteering. The ‘Citizens’ Café’, run by non-governmental organisations, attracted particular attention. It is an open space where any resident can pop in for a coffee or tea, meet others and get involved in the life of the local community.
Włocławek also demonstrated how local identity can be harnessed in the regeneration process. A symbol of this approach is the local faience – a distinctive type of pottery that has become part of the city’s regeneration efforts.
This is not the end of the exchange of experiences. Thanks to Swiss funding as part of the ‘ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle’ project, similar visits and training sessions will also be organised in the coming years, and the knowledge and inspiration gained can help to develop regeneration initiatives in the town.
14.10.2026 - A new police car has taken to the streets of Kędzierzyn-Koźle
The safety of residents also depends on those responsible for ensuring it being properly equipped. The fleet of the District Police Headquarters in Kędzierzyn-Koźle has been expanded with a new vehicle. The police car will be used in day-to-day operations, enabling a rapid response to calls.
The hybrid Kia is already parked outside the station. The vehicle, worth 150,000 zlotys, was funded by the Swiss Funds as part of the “ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle” project.
The car was handed over by the mayor, Sabina Nowosielska, who symbolically presented the keys to Chief Constable Iwona Żurawska.
13.10.2026 - Marine mysteries at your fingertips
From marine treasures to handmade models. Children from Kędzierzyn-Koźle discovered the secrets hidden by the vast oceans. They set off on this deep-sea adventure with the Municipal Public Library, and the session provided an opportunity to gain new knowledge and develop their creativity.
During the ‘Underwater World’ workshops, organised at Branch No. 10, participants learnt about the differences between saltwater and freshwater habitats. They also learnt more about the extraordinary animals capable of surviving in extreme conditions and discovered fascinating facts about life beneath the surface.
There was also plenty of opportunity to examine unique exhibits. Shells, sea urchins and other curiosities allowed the children to gain a better understanding of the richness of the underwater world. To round off the session, the participants created their own mini-models, drawing on their imagination and the knowledge they’d gained during the workshop.
12.10.2026 - On a single running track, without barriers
At the starting line, no limitations mattered. Able-bodied athletes and those with disabilities stood side by side, competing shoulder to shoulder for the best possible results. The Inclusive Athletics Meeting in Kędzierzyn-Koźle demonstrated that sport brings people together and gives everyone the opportunity to develop their potential.
Around 260 participants took part in the event. Children from primary schools in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, the Special Schools Complex in Kędzierzyn-Koźle and centres from across the Opole Voivodeship gathered at the stadium.
The programme of events provided plenty of excitement. Participants competed in races over various distances, the palant ball throw, the shot put and the long jump. The competitions were also accompanied by an integration picnic, which gave everyone the chance to spend time together.
A special guest at the event was Barbara Bieganowska-Zając, one of Poland’s most successful para-athletes. A five-time Paralympic champion, she won gold medals at the Games in Sydney, London, Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo and Paris.
09.10.2026 - Vinyl records have changed their repertoire. Now they’re serving up fruit
Old vinyl records have been given a new lease of life, although this time it wasn’t about playing music again. During upcycling workshops, the black discs took on a new form and became original fruit bowls.
Under the guidance of instructors, participants learnt how to make use of an object whose musical days are now behind it. The characteristic grooves and labels remain, but the records’ purpose has changed. From the shelf or the turntable, they’ve gone straight onto the table.

08.10.2026 - The library was buzzing with stories about bees
A swarm of questions, plenty of interesting facts and one striped heroine. Pupils from State Primary School No. 20 met Paulina Płatkowska, author of the book *About the Bee Who Thought It Was Wrong to Be a Bee*.
The literary tale quickly opened the door to the real life of a beehive. The young readers learnt about the importance of pollination, discovered what everyday life is like for these incredibly hard-working insects, and why their presence is so vital for nature. There were also some simple tips on how to create more bee-friendly environments.
The event took place at the Municipal Public Library as part of the “ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle” project, implemented under the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme.
07.10.2026 - Does it hurt, give you a twinge or restrict your movement? Book a consultation
Do you have a twinge in your back and don’t know what’s causing it? Instead of guessing, why not consult a specialist? The Municipal Social Welfare Centre is launching free physiotherapy consultations for adult residents of Kędzierzyn-Koźle.
During a one-to-one session, the physiotherapist will take your medical history, assess your fitness and any limitations in movement. Based on this, they will select appropriate exercises and advise you on how to manage your daily activities, maintain correct ergonomics and prevent strain.
Please bring any medical records you have to your first appointment, such as test results, X-rays or hospital discharge summaries.
Places are limited. Bookings can be made by calling 77 40 33 967, Monday to Friday between 7.00 am and 3.00 pm. Consultations take place at the ‘Dugnad’ Cooperation Centre at 20 Paweł Stalmach Street.
06.10.2026 - Don’t just stay at home. The Swiss Funds invite you
The Swiss Funds are encouraging people to get out and about. Free events and workshops organised by municipal institutions provide opportunities to meet others and socialise. There’s a wide variety to choose from, and this is just the start of what’s to come in the coming months.
As part of the “ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle” project, the Municipal Public Library is hosting creative activities for children and adults. Young children will delve into the world of bees and sea creatures, whilst adults will create something new from seemingly unwanted items. The Municipal Cultural Centre has, meanwhile, opened registration for pottery classes. The Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre is gearing up to launch its first inclusive athletics meet.

05.10.2026 - Can you get the ball in the hole? Get the name right too!
The venue’s already there – now it’s time to name it! The new leisure area on Ogrodowa Street is waiting for your ideas. The Kuźniczka Neighbourhood Council invites you to take part in the competition.
Perhaps you’ll be inspired by mini-golf, boules courts, or the neighbourhood itself? Just let your imagination run wild. There’s a golf club to be won!
This neighbourhood recreation area was created thanks, amongst other things, to Swiss Funds, and is already attracting residents who enjoy spending time outdoors there.
04.10.2026 - ‘Rhythms of Friendship’ has kicked off with auditions
There was no need for many words here. Movement was all it took! The auditions for ‘Rhythms of Friendship’ immediately showed how different styles can come together on one stage.
Breakdancing, contemporary dance and circus arts gave the young participants the space to showcase their skills and find their first shared rhythm.
Now they face workshops, training sessions and preparations for the performance on the big stage. This artistic spectacle is being staged as part of the “ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle” project.
02.10.2026 - Energy straight from nature
Nature has power! The youngest children explored its potential during creative workshops on renewable energy sources. They learnt about the power of wind, sun and water at the Municipal Public Library.
The session introduced the children to the topic of renewable energy sources and air quality protection. This acronym covers solutions that allow us to harness energy from the forces of nature. It was precisely these that were the focus of the latest instalment of the library’s ‘robiMY’ series.
The creative workshops took place as part of an educational and awareness-raising campaign carried out under the “ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle” project.
01.10.2026 - Green in Kłodnica. New square complete
Kłodnica has just blossomed thanks to Swiss Funds. Construction of a new square at the junction of Szymanowskiego and Portowa Streets has been completed. It has become a very cosy spot, with plenty of space to relax in the open air. This is yet another space in the town that has been given a whole new lease of life.
The square’s main attraction is its greenery. Numerous plants have been planted (around 3,500), with paths laid out amongst them, benches installed and areas created where people can simply sit and relax. For more active residents, an outdoor gym has been set up.
Care has also been taken with the lighting and aesthetics, as the area has been fitted with lamps and litter bins.
Very soon, once the new greenery has grown even more, the square should become another spot on the map of Kłodnica where people can stop for a moment and meet their neighbours. As part of the project, the contractor has also guaranteed a three-year maintenance period.
29.09.2026 - ReGeneracja in school counselling rooms
These are places where pupils can turn to for a chat, support and help during difficult times. Very soon, they will be even more welcoming and comfortable. The counselling rooms in all the city’s schools are set to be modernised. As well as refurbishments, they will also be equipped with modern teaching aids.
The first building sites have already been handed over to the contractor. The scope of work will vary depending on the needs of individual rooms. The works will include, amongst other things, wall repairs, painting, the replacement of cast-iron radiators, the laying of new floors and the installation of built-in cupboards.
The modernised rooms will be better suited to the daily work of specialist teachers and individual meetings with pupils. Renovation work will begin first at Primary School No. 1, Primary School No. 3, Primary School No. 6 and Primary School No. 9.
28.09.2026 - Municipal Cultural Centre is looking for talented dancers
Auditions are now open for the artistic project ‘Rhythms of Friendship’. This is an opportunity for dancers and acrobats to join a new venture and become part of an extraordinary show. The auditions are being organised by the Municipal Cultural Centre. They will take place on 4 October at 5.00 pm.
Anyone wishing to develop their skills in circus arts, contemporary dance or breakdancing is welcome to apply. Participants can look forward to five months of intensive rehearsals, training, group sessions and lots of fun. The project will culminate in a performance entitled “Dare to Dream”.
Participation in the sessions is completely free of charge. The project is being carried out as part of the “ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle” programme.
26.09.2026 - Who’s lurking in the air? The eco-detectives are on the trail
The eco-detectives have picked up the trail of clean air and proper recycling. During a meeting with Elżbieta Stępień at the Municipal Public Library, the youngest participants set out on an adventure that combined reading with fun, puzzles, and caring for the environment.
The session was an opportunity to explore the book "Smok czy nie smog?" ("Dragon or Smog?"), which demonstrates that literature not only fosters imagination but also encourages young children to look more closely at the world around them.
25.09.2026 - A Police Officer as a Teacher: An Important Lesson on Safety
How can you get to school safely? What should you watch out for online? What should you do if someone is being mean or violent? Police officers answer these and many other questions during meetings with the youngest students in Kędzierzyn-Koźle.
The campaign, which has just begun, is primarily designed to teach children how to respond to situations they may encounter both on the street and in front of a computer or phone screen. The officers discuss safe routes to school, online dangers, peer violence, and cyberbullying.
These meetings are not just about teaching rules. They also provide an opportunity for children to ask questions about situations that concern them and to learn where to seek help.
Officers will visit additional schools, reminding the youngest students of the most important safety rules. The meetings are part of the “ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle” project.
24.09.2026 - The library has taken flight
Exotic Morpho and Caligo butterflies made an appearance at Branch No. 13 of the Municipal Public Library, where the youngest visitors were able to see them up close and learn about the life cycle of a butterfly, from egg to adult.
These unusual workshops transformed part of the library into a small natural history laboratory. The children examined specimens and cocoons, learnt the differences between butterflies and moths, discovered how these insects protect themselves from danger, and found out whether they can actually bite.
After the nature-themed part, it was time to make their own wings. Each participant made a wooden butterfly with a magnet, which they could take home with them.
The event marked the launch of an educational and awareness-raising campaign entitled ‘Ecology and Cultural Issues’, carried out as part of the ‘ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle’ project and the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme.
23.09.2026 - ‘ReGeneracja’ has its own Community Committee
‘ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle’ is a project that is transforming the town. Carrying out such a large-scale undertaking requires cooperation, experience and an understanding of local needs, as well as a range of different perspectives. That is why a Community Committee will oversee the implementation of all activities.
It has just been established and, as an advisory body, will support the mayor and the project implementation team in planning, monitoring and evaluating projects funded by the Swiss Funds.
Its members can share their knowledge and experience, put forward opinions and highlight issues that are important from the perspective of the communities they represent. This will create additional opportunities for discussion about planned and ongoing activities during the project’s implementation.
The Committee comprises individuals selected through an open call for applications, as well as those nominated by the Mayor of Kędzierzyn-Koźle and the Kędzierzyn-Koźle County Governor. Participation in the Committee’s work is on a voluntary basis.

22.09.2026 - Grab your club: mini-golf awaits
You don’t have to be Tiger Woods to pick up a club. All you need to do is head to the Kuźniczka housing estate. A new mini-golf course has just opened on Ogrodowa Street. Nine holes and nine different challenges await players. Easier said than done.
The new attraction has been built next to the boules courts, creating a larger leisure area by the ‘Kowal’ goat statue. Chess and Ludo tables, new plantings and a fence have also been added to the site. After a round, you can relax under the shelter or stay a while longer and enjoy the other attractions.
21.09.2026 - The Swiss are coming to the library
The Swiss Funds will also be making their mark at the library. A series of free workshops and activities is coming up, combining ecology, culture and fun. The first sessions kick off this week, starting with activities for the youngest children.
On 23 September, Branch No. 13 in the Azoty housing estate will host an interactive workshop entitled ‘Exotic Butterflies’. Participants will get a close-up look at live, exotic insects. They will also visit the ‘naturalist’s laboratory’, where they can examine specimens, eggs and cocoons. Two days later, on 25 September, Branch No. 5 will host a meet-the-author session with Elżbieta Stępień, centred on her book ‘Dragon or Smog?’. It will be a literary adventure combined with eco-friendly fun. On 2 October, a workshop on renewable energy sources will take place at the headquarters on the Market Square.
This is just the beginning. As part of the project, the Municipal Public Library has prepared further events, which will be added to the calendar in due course.
Swiss funds will also help to refurbish and renovate the building on the Market Square. At the main library, the Youth Department, the Information and Education Centre and the Media Library will be modernised.
15.09.2026 - The music box will 'play' for the young people
'Pozytywka' (The music box). That is the name of the new youth centre set to open in Kędzierzyn-Koźle. The name was chosen by the teenagers themselves, and the suggestion received as many as 70 per cent of the votes in an online poll. Preparations for the club’s opening are underway.
Importantly, it is the young people themselves who will have the greatest say in how the venue is fitted out. They will decide on the furniture, decorations, layout and wall colours. It is intended to be a space where they can pop in after school, meet up with friends, play games, relax or pursue their interests. No rigid schedule and no boredom. Simply on their own terms. The details were discussed during a session of the Youth City Council.
'Pozytywka' will be established in Śródmieście, in a well-connected part of the city.
15.09.2026 - Who will be the first to bowl a strike?
Free bowling sessions have begun at the Kazimierz Pietrzyk “Azoty” Sports and Entertainment Hall. The youngest participants were the first to take to the lanes, where, under the guidance of an instructor, they began to get to grips with the ball, practise their aim and work out how to bowl that much-coveted strike.
In subsequent sessions, there will be time to improve technique, perfect stance, work on precision and, of course, enjoy a bit of healthy competition.
The free sessions, organised by the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre, take place on Tuesdays from 5.00 pm to 7.00 pm, whilst on Thursdays at the same time it is the adults’ turn to play.
09.09.2026 - More greenery in the town
Kędzierzyn-Koźle is becoming more beautiful and greener thanks to the Swiss. In Kłodnica and Kuźniczka, new spaces are being created where people will be able to relax, meet their neighbours and spend their time actively.
The undeveloped square on Szymanowskiego Street is being transformed into a green space. Paths have been laid out, benches are being installed, and the area is being planted with new trees and shrubs. Very soon, this will be another spot on the neighbourhood map where you can stop for a moment.
Meanwhile, on Ogrodowa Street, next to the existing boules courts, mini-golf obstacles have been erected. Recreation enthusiasts can therefore look forward to another opportunity for sporting competition. After a round, you’ll be able to catch your breath under the shelter. The facility will soon be open for use.
04.09.2026 - Workshops tailored to participants’ needs
Over 100 completed questionnaires will help to prepare workshops perfectly suited to their future participants. The Municipal Cultural Centre has carefully analysed all the opinions, comments and suggestions. Thanks to these, it is now clear what activities to organise, at what times they should take place, and where they should be held.
The programme will include creative sessions focusing on ceramics, as well as modern dance and breakdance classes, and circus workshops. All the activities are designed to help residents discover new passions, acquire new skills and bring the community together. Feedback was collected via both traditional forms and online.
Participation in the workshops will be free of charge. The projects are being implemented with the support of the Swiss Funds as part of the ‘ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle’ programme.

31.08.2026 - An important document and a chance for residents to have their say
The ‘Assessment of the needs and potential of the local community in the Municipality of Kędzierzyn-Koźle in the field of social services’ has been produced. This is an important document that will help the town to better plan its support policies for residents.
Preliminary findings from the study have already been presented at a public meeting. Now it is time for the local community to get involved in another way. Consultations will begin shortly. From 8 to 14 September, you will be able to submit your views and comments on the report directly to the Municipal Social Welfare Centre (MOPS).
This is an opportunity for residents to have a real say in the direction of change and the future of social services in the town. The preparation of the assessment and the planned improvements to the functioning of the Municipal Social Welfare Centre are funded by the Swiss Funds as part of the “ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle” project.
19.08.2026 - Social services tailored to residents’ needs
First came the assessment, then the report, and now it is time to discuss what the resident support system should look like. Experts, officials, staff from municipal institutions and all interested parties came together to work jointly on the Social Services Programme.
An open participatory workshop took place at the ‘Dugnad’ Cooperation Centre. The outcomes of the discussion are intended to guide the preparation of a comprehensive concept for the Social Services Centre, which will in future take over the responsibilities of the Municipal Social Welfare Centre. The launch of the new institution is planned with the support of the Swiss Funds as part of the ‘ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle’ project.
14.08.2026 - Bowling club starts in September
Bowling isn’t just great fun – it’s also a sport that can really get you hooked. A free bowling club for children and adults is launching in Kędzierzyn-Koźle this September.
Free sessions led by an instructor will take place at the Kazimierz Pietrzyk “Azoty” Sports and Entertainment Hall. Children will meet on Tuesdays and adults on Thursdays, always from 5.00 pm to 7.00 pm. The season will run from 15 September to 29 April 2027.

13.08.2026 - Free SOS wristbands and sensors for older people
A single press of a button will raise the alarm. The Municipal Social Welfare Centre in Kędzierzyn-Koźle has begun accepting applications for its telecare programme. Thanks to this scheme, residents in need can receive free safety systems with round-the-clock monitoring. Applications must be submitted by 26 August.
The project is aimed primarily at senior citizens and people requiring support. Participants will receive devices that will enable them to call for help quickly in the event of an emergency. The kit will include an SOS wristband with an alarm button and a fall detector. Meanwhile, sensors will be installed in the homes to detect, amongst other things, carbon monoxide, smoke, gas, flooding, as well as the opening of windows or doors. In the event of a dangerous situation, a signal will be sent immediately to the Monitoring Centre. Its staff are on duty round the clock and, if necessary, will take appropriate action and organise assistance.

12.08.2026 - They’ll choose the name themselves. Young people vote for a new club
This won’t be a club with a name imposed by adults. The teenagers themselves will decide what the new meeting place for teenagers will be called. There are three options to choose from: ‘Pozytywka’, ‘Jest dobrze’ and ‘Forum Młodych’. The final decision will be made online. Online voting is currently underway.
The idea is simple. The aim is to create a space where young people can feel at ease and spend their free time on their own terms. An earlier name proposal – “Sigma Club” – did not win their approval. That is why, this time, the choice will be made by everyone involved. The Youth City Council is conducting a survey among their peers.
The new venue is intended, first and foremost, to be a place for meeting up, socialising and spending time actively. After school, teenagers will be able to relax there, meet up with friends, play games or pursue their interests. The project involves setting up a youth centre in a well-connected part of the city, making it easy and convenient to get there from various neighbourhoods. The planned location is Śródmieście.

10.08.2026 - What should social services look like?
Residents’ views will be crucial when planning social services in Kędzierzyn-Koźle. What is missing, and what changes should be made to the system to make support more accessible and better suited to everyday life? We will seek answers to these questions together.
An open Participatory Planning Workshop will take place on 18 August at 5.00 pm at the ‘Dugnad’ Cooperation Centre, 20 Stalmacha Street. The meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss how social policy in the town should develop.
This will not merely be a presentation of ready-made ideas. Residents’ input – their experiences, needs, observations and suggestions – will play a key role. The meeting forms part of an initiative carried out as part of the ‘ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle’ project, linked to the launch of the Social Services Centre (CUS).
31.07.2026 - ‘Rhythms of Friendship’ begins with a survey
Dance, acrobatics and good fun can be the start of new friendships and social integration. The Municipal Cultural Centre in Kędzierzyn-Koźle is preparing a unique project that will bring together children, young people and adults from Poland and Ukraine. However, before the free workshops begin, the organisers want to find out what future participants are hoping for.
The MOK encourages you to complete a short survey, which will help tailor the programme. The questions cover, amongst other things, preferred days and times for sessions, the organisation of the workshops, and any potential barriers that might hinder participation. The form is available in Polish and Ukrainian.
The ‘Rhythms of Friendship: Polish-Ukrainian Artistic Workshops’ project will include free classes in circus acrobatics, breakdancing and modern dance. The workshops will run from October 2026 to March 2027. A total of 50 hours of sessions are planned, culminating in a joint Grand Gala Concert.

29.07.2026 - A good diagnosis is the first step towards change
Positive change begins with a sound diagnosis. NGOs from Kędzierzyn-Koźle have the opportunity to work together to set out a course of action that will address the real needs of local residents. It is during these workshops that ideas will emerge which may serve as a catalyst for further local initiatives.
The meeting will take place on 29 July (Wednesday) at 5.00 pm online. It will provide an opportunity for discussion and the exchange of experiences, which will help to better plan activities for the residents of Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Representatives of associations and foundations are invited to take part. Their experience, commitment and knowledge of local needs are extremely valuable and can play an important role in developing effective solutions for the town.

28.07.2026 - Clay can be used to make more than just pottery
Can a lump of clay be used to create something more than just a mug or a decorative item? The Municipal Cultural Centre in Kędzierzyn-Koźle believes it can. These group workshops are intended to be an opportunity not only to develop creativity, but also to get to know neighbours, foster a sense of community and build good relationships.
The MOK is organising a series of free pottery classes for residents of all ages. However, the organisers are keen to ensure that the classes meet participants’ expectations as closely as possible. That is why they have prepared a special questionnaire ahead of the project’s launch.
The results will help determine the best days and times to hold the sessions. The questions also cover expectations regarding the workshops, preferred formats for the sessions, and how the work is organised. This will ensure the programme is tailored to residents’ needs.
The project is open to all and aims to promote inclusion. Children and people with special needs will also be able to take part in the workshops. Participation in the sessions is completely free of charge. The ‘Moulded from the Same Clay’ workshops will be run as part of the ‘ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle’ project, funded by the Swiss Contribution. The sessions will run for two years, from October 2026 to September 2028, and will total 120 hours.

22.07.2026 – Don’t have premises for your organisation? There’s a solution!
Non-governmental organisations can use office space and a conference room for a nominal fee: just one zloty per hour. This opportunity is offered by the NGO Zone at the ‘Dugnad’ Cooperation Centre. Applications will open shortly.
Associations and foundations have access to four offices with staff facilities and a meeting room, which can be used to carry out statutory activities, run training sessions and workshops, or implement social initiatives. The space will be available from Monday to Friday, between 8.00 am and 7.00 pm.
Non-governmental organisations as defined in the Act on Public Benefit Activity and Volunteering are eligible to apply. Access to the premises is granted on the basis of an approved application and a signed loan agreement. Application documents may be submitted from 27 July 2026 at the Municipal Social Welfare Centre at 2A Mikołaja Reja Street and at the ‘Dugnad’ Cooperation Centre at 20 Pawła Stalmacha Street.
The NGO Zone was established to support the activities of non-governmental organisations, foster cooperation and create a space for implementing initiatives for the benefit of the residents of Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Some of its activities may be co-financed by the Swiss Funds.
17.07.2026 - Kozielskie Planty under Big Brother’s watchful eye
An evening stroll through the Planty without a care in the world. The historic park in Koźle is set to gain additional lighting and a modern CCTV system, but its historic character will remain intact.
Twenty-four cameras will be installed along the paths, which will be integrated into the municipal system operated by the City Guard. In addition, the section that has not been lit until now will be enhanced with stylish street lamps. The contractor has already taken over the construction site, so the project will soon enter the implementation phase. The modernisation will be carried out with due regard for the existing greenery. Most of the cables will be laid using trenchless methods, which will minimise disruption to the trees’ root systems and the surface of the paths. All work is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
The project will be carried out as part of the ‘ReGeneracja Kedzierzyna-Koźla’ initiative.

14.07.2026 - The green transformation is already underway
The city is investing in green spaces and areas designed for rest, recreation and neighbourhood gatherings. Work has begun in Kłodnica and Kuźniczka, where two areas well known to local residents are undergoing a transformation.
Excavators and construction machinery have appeared at the junction of Portowa Street and Szymanowskiego Street, preparing the site for a new square previously proposed under the Citizens’ Budget. The green space will feature paths, pergolas, lighting and street furniture. The design also includes trees, shrubs, lawns and flower meadows.
The changes also extend to the area around the ‘Kowal’ goat statue on Ogrodowa Street. The area with boules courts will be complemented by a mini-golf course, chess and Ludo tables, new plantings and a fence.
13.07.2026 - Join the Community Committee
Would you like to have a real say in the town’s development and the key decisions affecting its future? Do you have ideas or experience, or are you simply curious about the changes planned for Kędzierzyn-Koźle? Now is the time. Applications are currently being accepted for the Community Committee of the ‘ReGeneracja Kędzierzyna-Koźla’ project, funded by the Polish-Swiss Urban Development Programme.
The Committee will act in an advisory capacity and support the implementation of the project. Its members will be able to share their perspectives, submit proposals, review documents and take part in discussions regarding the measures being introduced. The call for applications is aimed at people involved in the life of the local community, including residents, representatives of non-governmental organisations, public institutions and community advisory bodies.
Participation in the Committee’s work is on a voluntary basis, and meetings will take place at least once a quarter. Applications will be accepted until 7 August 2026.

18.06.2026 - The Swiss have fallen in love with Kędzierzyn-Koźle!
It was an important day for Kędzierzyn-Koźle. The town officially launched a project funded by the Swiss Contribution, through which the local authority will receive as much as 80 million zlotys to carry out key investments and social initiatives.
To mark the occasion, Kędzierzyn-Koźle welcomed some distinguished guests. Among them were Marc Bruchez, Deputy Head of Mission at the Swiss Embassy in Warsaw, and Cliff Hammer, Director of the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme Office. The Swiss delegation was also accompanied by representatives of the Association of Polish Cities.
The event was also attended by representatives of institutions and organisations involved in implementing the project ‘Regeneration of Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Social, environmental and cultural initiatives for the development of the Young City’. The programme for the visit was designed to showcase locations that will undergo a significant transformation in the coming years thanks to the funding secured.
Among other places, the visitors toured Głowackiego Street, where regeneration works are planned, the future premises of the youth club, Kolejarzy Square, the “Dugnad” Cooperation Centre, the cycle path, the sports stadium in Blachownia, the pantograph station and the Museum of the Silesian Battle for Fuel. Each of these locations forms part of a wide-ranging plan for change, aimed at improving residents’ quality of life and creating new spaces for social, cultural and recreational activities.
Kędzierzyn-Koźle’s success takes on even greater significance when one considers the scale of the programme. Swiss funds were awarded to just 19 local authorities across Poland. Kędzierzyn-Koźle was also included in this elite group – the sole representative of the Opole Voivodeship.
The 80 million zlotys awarded is a non-repayable grant that will enable the implementation of dozens of projects grouped under 11 initiatives. This is an investment not only in infrastructure, but above all in the future of the town and its residents. The effects of the programme will soon be visible in many parts of Kędzierzyn-Koźle, transforming the town’s landscape and opening up new opportunities for development.
17.06.2026 - We’re creating this place together!
The Municipal Senior Citizens’ Centre and the Centre for Non-Governmental Organisations and Volunteering have the potential to become a modern space for meetings, activities, collaboration and neighbourhood initiatives. These are institutions designed to serve residents and develop the local community.
Now every resident can have a say in how they will operate. What actions are needed? Which ideas are worth implementing? Public consultations are now underway as part of the project ‘ReGeneration of Kędzierzyn-Koźle: Social, environmental and cultural initiatives for the development of the Young City’ and the task ‘Socially Active. Development of social activities and upgrading of the Municipal Senior Citizens’ Centre and the Centre for Non-Governmental Organisations and Volunteering – the Local Forum for Civic Dialogue”. Their aim is to understand residents’ needs and expectations regarding social, educational, integration and engagement activities. Thanks to the feedback gathered, a programme will be developed that meets the real needs of different age groups and communities.

11.06.2026 - The square will flourish thanks to the Swiss
Greenery, footpaths, flower meadows, pergolas and new lighting. At the junction of Portowa Street and Karola Szymanowskiego Street, the next phase of changes is beginning, which are set to give this place a completely new character.
A square is to be built in Kłodnica, following a request from the residents themselves. The project, which began as part of the Citizens’ Budget, will be completed thanks to the ‘ReGeneracja Kedzierzyna-Koźla’ scheme.
As part of the project, the area will be tidied up, and vegetation that is in poor condition or obstructing the planned works will be removed. New paths will be created, as well as walkways made of slabs set into the lawns. The square will also gain metal pergolas, street furniture, lighting and a richer array of plants. Plans include the planting of trees and shrubs, flower meadows and lawns.
05.06.2026 - The “Kowal” playground is set to gain even more recreational space
On Ogrodowa Street in the Kuźniczka housing estate, there’s once again something happening for local residents. Next to the boules courts, work is set to begin on the next phase of the recreational area. The new attractions are intended to be a magnet for neighbourhood get-togethers, relaxation and spending time together.
The area around the “Kowal” goat statue will be expanded to include a mini-golf course, along with new plantings, fencing and tables for playing chess and Ludo. As a result, this space – which the residents themselves had previously proposed as part of the Participatory Budget – will become even more functional and welcoming to people of all ages.
The project is being carried out as part of the “ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle” initiative, funded by the Polish-Swiss Urban Development Programme.
15.05.2026 - Rehabilitation at Switzerland’s expense
Back pain, strained joints or recovering from an injury? Residents of Kędzierzyn-Koźle can now sign up for free treatment. The programme is run by four providers, allowing patients to choose the centre that suits them best.
The offer is aimed at people registered as permanent residents or those with a temporary residence permit valid for at least 12 months in Kędzierzyn-Koźle. You can apply for the programme with or without a doctor’s referral. If you do not have a doctor’s referral, you will undergo an interview and an assessment to determine your eligibility for the treatments. On this basis, a specialist will select the appropriate therapy, its duration and the number of sessions.
The programme covers a maximum of two types of treatment, and each may be carried out up to ten times. Rehabilitation may only be undertaken once a year. Each resident eligible for the programme may choose only one rehabilitation centre. Cancelling booked treatments or discontinuing therapy means that the patient will not be able to participate in the programme again in the same year.

13.05.2026 - A space designed with local organisations in mind
A new space for non-governmental organisations is now up and running – not just on paper. Representatives of local associations and foundations gathered at the ‘Dugnad’ Cooperation Centre to see the space designed with their activities in mind and to discuss how best to make use of its potential.
The information and consultation meeting covered the rules for using the NGO zone, the regulations governing the use of the premises, and possible forms of cooperation. An important element was also hearing from the organisations themselves: their needs, ideas and experiences arising from their day-to-day work on behalf of local residents.
There was no shortage of questions, specific proposals and discussions on how the Centre can support local community activity. It is during such meetings that connections, joint initiatives and actions are forged, which later have a tangible impact on the life of the town.

11.05.2026 - A Swiss expert will show how to aim for a strike
In Kędzierzyn-Koźle, everyone will have the chance to learn how to bowl. Residents will not only try their hand at the lanes, but will also have their say on what the new bowling section should look like.
MOSiR invites you to take part in public consultations regarding the launch of classes for children and adults as part of the project “ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle: Social, environmental and cultural initiatives for the development of the Young City”.

06.05.2026 - Working together for the development of Kędzierzyn-Koźle
We have just held a working meeting dedicated to one of the largest grants in the history of local government. Representatives of the Town Council and the County Council – which is a partner in the implementation of the “ReGeneracja Kędzierzyn-Koźle” project – sat down together around the same table.
As part of this project, funded by Swiss grants, over 80 million zlotys will be invested in the town. The county is responsible for some of the tasks, and its budget amounts to 13 million zlotys.
During the meeting, key issues relating to the project were clarified. The schedule of activities, the public procurement plan, promotional guidelines and methods for engaging residents and strengthening community participation were discussed.
The county council’s responsibilities include, amongst other things, the thermal modernisation of the ‘Żegluga’ building in Koziel, the construction of a footpath and cycle path from Cisowa to Sławięcice, the implementation of a psychological support programme for young people, and grants for young residents to carry out their own initiatives.
05.05.2026 - Swiss Funds Gain Momentum
The third phase of the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme was launched at a conference in Warsaw. Over the next three years, funding from Switzerland will have a huge impact on the development of 19 Polish towns, including Kędzierzyn-Koźle.
The sole delegation from the Opole region was led by Deputy Mayor Tomasz Radłowski. In addition to local government officials, the event was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy, the Swiss Embassy and the Association of Polish Cities.
The discussions focused not only on the rules and funding, but above all on practical matters: how to manage investments effectively, engage residents and ensure that the projects being implemented bring about real change in the local area.
04.05.2026 - A Norwegian created this place; a Swiss is breathing life into it
It is here that new initiatives, partnerships and projects can begin, bringing about real change to the town. In Kędzierzyn-Koźle, a space is being created tailored to the needs of non-governmental organisations: with room for offices, work facilities and a conference room that could become a hub for meetings and debates.
The Municipal Social Welfare Centre invites representatives of the third sector to an information and consultation meeting, which will take place on 12 May 2026 at 5.00 pm at the ‘Dugnad’ Cooperation Centre at 20 Stalmacha Street.
This will be an opportunity to learn about how the NGO zone operates and the possible forms of cooperation. An equally important element is the joint development of rules for using the available premises. Associations and foundations will be able to contribute to drawing up a set of regulations that will define how this space will function in practice.

Less paper, more e-documents and standardised procedures. This is what everyday life in the city’s schools, nurseries and crèches will soon look like. These institutions will gain access to specialist support, which will streamline administrative processes and allow them to focus on what matters most: the education of the youngest children. The costs of employing these specialists will be covered by the Swiss Funds.
Educational institutions will receive assistance from an IT specialist and a public procurement expert. New posts will be created within the Education and Upbringing Support Team as part of the project ‘ReGeneration of Kędzierzyn-Koźle: Social, environmental and cultural initiatives for the development of the Young City’.
In the longer term, this technical support is expected to lead to the optimisation of the operating costs of the city’s education system and an improvement in management standards within public institutions.
20.04.2026 - Greater safety thanks to the Swiss Funds
Modern equipment means a greater sense of safety – both for residents and for the firefighters themselves. In Kędzierzyn-Koźle, funding from the Swiss Funds will be channelled into specific investments that will tangibly strengthen the District Fire Service Headquarters. These measures are designed to protect both those who protect others and those who are being protected.
The local council has signed an agreement concerning the implementation of the project ‘ReGeneration of Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Social, environmental and cultural initiatives for the development of the Young City’, co-financed by the Polish-Swiss Urban Development Programme. The document was signed by Mayor Sabina Nowosielska and the District Fire Service Commander, Brigadier Szymon Jędrzejas. This paves the way for its implementation.
As part of the project, the unit will be equipped with modern chemical rescue equipment, including, amongst other things, gas detectors, breathing apparatus, two-way radios and devices for analysing substances. These investments will raise the standard of equipment and streamline the day-to-day work of the firefighters. Another key element of the project will be the launch of a specialist laundry facility for protective clothing. This will enable the effective removal of contaminants accumulated during operations, which will lead to improved safety and working conditions.
There are also plans to install photovoltaic systems at the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service and at Fire and Rescue Unit No. 2. These will provide the facilities with their own source of energy, which is in line with modernisation and environmental initiatives.
02.04.2026 - 80 million for the city! Agreement signed
The signatures on this document can easily be ‘valued’ at as much as 80 million zlotys. Mayor Sabina Nowosielska and the Minister for Funds and Regional Policy, Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, have signed an agreement for the implementation of a project financed by the Swiss Funds. The donor country’s ambassador, Fabrice Filliez, was also present at this important moment for Kędzierzyn-Koźle.
Only 19 towns in Poland will receive similar support. Among them, Kędzierzyn-Koźle is the only local authority from the Opole Voivodeship. For the municipality, this is not only a matter of prestige but, above all, a huge opportunity for development.
The funds secured are intended to help transform Kędzierzyn-Koźle into an even better place to live: with access to housing, stable employment, good healthcare and modern, safe transport. The project is ambitious and comprehensive. It encompasses measures across as many as 11 areas, which complement one another.
The lion’s share of the funds will be allocated to infrastructure. One of the city’s most critical junctions will be rebuilt. A roundabout will be built in Koźle, which will streamline traffic flow and improve safety. At the same time, the network of cycle paths will be expanded, finally creating a coherent whole and eliminating ‘gaps’ on the city map.
There has also been a strong focus on the environment. The city plans to purchase more electric buses, create new public squares and green spaces, and carry out additional tree planting. There will be investment in energy-efficient solutions and renewable energy sources, as well as green car parks. All this will be complemented by public awareness campaigns promoting environmentally friendly behaviour.
An important element of the project is initiatives aimed at young residents. The local council wants to encourage them to stay in the area and create the right conditions for their development. In every school, specialist rooms – including those for psychologists – will be refurbished, and suitable staff will be recruited. Young people will also be given a real say in shaping their local environment. Thanks to grant schemes, they will be able to bring their own ideas to life. The Sigma Club will also be established – a space designed specifically for young people. The range of cultural and sporting activities on offer will also be expanded.
Furthermore, the project also includes improvements to safety, support for older people and those with disabilities, and the development of cooperation with non-governmental organisations. This is a wide-ranging plan for change, which is set to have a tangible impact on residents’ quality of life and the city’s future.
31.03.2026 - A new space for young people. The ‘Sigma Club’ is to be established
It was young people who came up with the name, and it is with them in mind that the ‘Sigma Club’ is being set up. It will be a space for meeting, chatting and spending time actively. In short, a space created by young people, for young people.
The project aims to establish a centre where teenagers will not only be able to relax and chat after school, but also play games or pursue their interests. It is intended to be an open, welcoming and easily accessible venue, so that everyone can get there without any trouble.
The initiative will be implemented as part of the Swiss Funds programme. The search for a suitable venue is currently underway. Representatives of the Youth City Council have also become actively involved in the whole process, as they know best what kind of space their peers need.
16.03.2026 - “The Swiss” want to hear your views
Over the next three years, the Swiss Funds will be shaping Kędzierzyn-Koźle. There is one goal: to make the town more liveable for its residents. But change won’t happen on its own. It is the local community that will play a key role.
The aim is to ensure that the chosen courses of action reflect real needs. That is why it will be so important for as many people as possible to take part in the consultations, surveys, meetings and events being organised.
How can we encourage people to get involved? This was discussed during the latest training session for city council staff. The workshops were led by experts from the Association of Polish Cities, who demonstrated how to effectively boost public participation and build dialogue with residents.
18.02.2026 - A town that’s closer to its over-60s
The latest meeting of the Municipal Seniors’ Council focused on how to make Kędzierzyn-Koźle even more welcoming for its over-60s. The discussion covered both current measures and ideas for new initiatives aimed at older residents.
During the meeting, Mayor Sabina Nowosielska presented the most important projects being carried out specifically with older people in mind. These included the forthcoming opening of the “Dugnad” Cooperation Centre and activities planned under the Swiss Funds.
However, the main part of the meeting was devoted to drawing up a work plan for 2026. The Municipal Senior Citizens’ Council’s priorities included cooperation with, amongst others, Universities of the Third Age, day centres, Senior Citizens’ Clubs, the Municipal Senior Citizens’ Centre and the Polish Association of Pensioners, Retirees and Disabled Persons. Proposals were also made to set up a council consultation point, organise a diagnostic walk around the town in collaboration with the Municipal Social Welfare Centre (MOPS) to assess the accessibility of public spaces, and analyse the accessibility of healthcare within the municipality.
The meeting was also attended by Secretary Zbigniew Romanowicz and Agata Morkis, Director of the Municipal Social Welfare Centre.
18.02.2026 - City authorities and neighbourhood councils gather round the same table
The best way to see how a city is changing is not through reports and tables, but through conversations with people. This was precisely the case during the meeting between the authorities of Kędzierzyn-Koźle and representatives of all 16 neighbourhood councils. Alongside strategic issues, the discussion covered the most local matters, those closest to residents’ hearts.
Mayor Sabina Nowosielska opened the meeting by reporting on one of the local government’s recent successes: securing Swiss Funds. The 80 million zlotys obtained will enable further development projects to be carried out and the quality of life for residents to be consistently improved. The mayor also summarised the investments currently underway and outlined the most important ongoing issues being addressed by the city council.
The remainder of the meeting was dominated by contributions from representatives of the neighbourhood councils. They raised issues reported by residents: ranging from road-related matters, through safety and the aesthetics of public spaces, to local community initiatives.
12.02.2026 - It’s official! Swiss funding for Kędzierzyn-Koźle
The Steering Committee of the Polish-Swiss Urban Development Programme has recommended the signing of grant agreements with 19 medium-sized towns. This marks the start of projects which, in the coming years, will contribute to the sustainable development of these towns, strengthen their institutional capacity and improve living conditions for their residents.
The following towns will receive funding: Chodzież, Ciechanów, Dębica, Gniezno, Grudziądz, Hajnówka, Hrubieszów, Jarosław, Jasło, Kędzierzyn-Koźle, Końskie, Kraśnik, Krosno, Ostrołęka, Siemianowice Śląskie, Słupsk, Starachowice, Tarnów and Włocławek.
Support for Polish towns under the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme
The Polish-Swiss Urban Development Programme is part of the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme, also known as the Swiss Funds for Poland. Its aim is to reduce socio-economic disparities in Poland. It also supports the development of medium-sized towns at risk of marginalisation, which are losing their socio-economic functions.
The programme will help improve residents’ quality of life by funding comprehensive development projects. Selected investments relate, amongst other things, to vocational training, support for entrepreneurship, public transport, energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, water, wastewater and waste management, environmental protection, health, social assistance, public safety and measures to support groups at risk of exclusion.
The projects cover the economic, social and environmental spheres, in line with the principles of sustainable development. The initiative also promotes democratic values, the rule of law, pluralism and respect for human rights. We will allocate over 1.4 billion zł to support towns and cities, 85 per cent of which is a Swiss contribution. Funding for individual projects may amount to over 80 million zł.
The programme is implemented by the Minister for Funds and Regional Policy.
About the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme
The total budget for the programme amounts to over 1.7 billion PLN. Of this amount, Switzerland has allocated almost 1.5 billion PLN to Poland. The remainder is the national contribution.
The breakdown of these funds is as follows:
- Polish-Swiss Urban Development Programme – 87 per cent of the total funding,
- Research and Innovation Programme – 11 per cent of the total funding,
- Technical Assistance (including the Preparatory Fund) – 2 per cent of the total funding,
Several other EU countries also benefit from the Swiss Funds.
30.01.2026 - Kędzierzyn-Koźle is ready for the ‘Swiss’
Kędzierzyn-Koźle isn’t leaving it to the last minute! Organisational work began even before the grant agreement was formally signed. The town is already busy preparing for the implementation of one of the largest development projects in recent years. The project involves 80 million from the Swiss Funds.
The first working meeting of the organisations involved in implementing the programme entitled ‘ReGeneration of Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Social, environmental and cultural initiatives for the development of the Young City’, which will be 100 per cent funded by the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme. This is an important step, as the scale of the project requires very close coordination from the very beginning.
The local authority faces a huge challenge over the next few years. There is around 80 million zlotys to be allocated, and the programme will be implemented by over a dozen partners. The project comprises 11 actions, which will include both infrastructure investments and social, educational and environmental projects.
Such a wide scope of work necessitates precise planning, the establishment of timetables and a clear division of roles amongst the programme’s participants.

- Green car parks in the Piastów–Powstańców Śląskich housing estate,

However, this is not just about construction or transport investments. The programme also includes initiatives that address the current needs of residents, particularly young people and older people. Plans include, amongst other things:
- psychological and educational support for children and young people,
- the establishment of a youth centre,
- preventative programmes for residents and older people,
- integrative and intergenerational sporting, artistic and cultural events, as well as educational campaigns.
Sabina Nowosielska, the chair of the meeting, emphasises that the aim is to be fully prepared to get started right from the outset, so that once the agreement has been signed, work on the planned activities can begin as soon as possible. Early preparations are crucial for both infrastructure investments and social projects requiring cooperation between multiple institutions.
Plans are in place to organise another working meeting, this time with the participation of the national partner, namely the County Council, as well as other local implementing bodies: the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service and the County Police Headquarters.
A website run by the Municipality of Kędzierzyn-Koźle, which is implementing a project co-financed by the Swiss Funds, which support the reduction of economic and social disparities within the European Union, and by the state budget.
