1 września 1939 roku Niemcy zaatakowały Polskę, rozpoczynając najtragiczniejszy konflikt w historii świata. Podczas II Wojny Światowej zginęło 6 milionów polskich obywateli. Wciąż pamiętamy o bohaterach i ofiarach tamtych okrutnych dni.
W Kędzierzynie-Koźlu 81. rocznicę wybuchu wojny uczczono złożeniem kwiatów pod pomnikiem jej ofiar w parku Pojednania. W uroczystości wzięli udział przedstawiciele samorządów, służb mundurowych, organizacji patriotycznych oraz mieszkańcy.
Z uwagi na pandemię wydarzenie miało charakter symboliczny – bez udziału orkiestry, pocztów sztandarowych oraz bez wystąpień okolicznościowych.
