Pamięci kędzierzyńskich kolejarzy

Plac przy ulicy Romualda Traugutta nie będzie pusty. Swoje miejsce znajdzie tam odrestaurowany parowóz, który został zakupiony za prawie 60 tys. złotych. Jako pomnik będzie on hołdem dla kolejarzy, dzięki którym Kędzierzyn stał się miastem.
Oprócz zakupu ciuchci gmina wybrała również firmę, która przywróci jej dawny blask. W ramach prac przewidziano wykonanie nowych powłok malarskich, wymianę skorodowanych blach oraz uzupełnienie brakujących szyb – wszystko pod okiem wojewódzkiego konserwatora zabytków. Koszt restauracji parowozu, która powinna zostać ukończona w listopadzie, wynosi blisko 49 tys. złotych. Ponadto jeszcze w tym roku rozpoczną się pierwsze prace budowlane na skwerze przy ul. Traugutta, które pozwolą na ustawienie tam lokomotywy.
