Sportowiec z Kędzierzyna-Koźla rywalizuje w kategorii do 77 kilogramów w stylu klasycznym i bez większych przeszkód dotarł do finału. Tam jego rywalem był brązowy medalista mistrzostw świata z 2017 roku Turek Fatih Cengiz. Warszawski turniej uznawany jest za jeden z najmocniej obsadzonych w sezonie. Do rywalizacji na macie stawili się zawodnicy z 36 państw.
Trenerem Piotra Duka jest Bogusław Metel. Zapaśnik od wielu lat jest stypendystą gminy Kędzierzyn-Koźle.
