Zdarzyło się to 78 lat temu

Po nieco ponad dwóch tygodniach walk z hitlerowskimi wojskami we wrześniu 1939 roku cios ze wschodu zadała armia radziecka. Pamięć tamtych dni przywołano podczas mszy w kościele pw. Ducha Św. i NMP Matki Kościoła na os. Piastów. Zaraz po niej samorządowcy, miejscy i powiatowi radni, przedstawiciele służb mundurowych oraz Związku Sybiraków przeszli pod znajdujące się przy świątyni kamienie pamięci, gdzie złożyli kwiaty. Wśród oddających hołd byli m.in. starosta Małgorzata Tudaj i sekretarz miasta Zbigniew Romanowicz.
