Świątynia powstała w cztery lata

Parafia Sławięcice świętuje 150-lecie swojego kościoła pw. św. Katarzyny Aleksandryjskiej. Jubileusz rozpoczął się od uroczystej mszy świętej koncelebrowanej pod przewodnictwem ks. bpa Rudolfa Pierskały.
Prócz wielu wiernych wzięli w niej też udział przedstawiciele duchowieństwa z obecnym proboszczem - ks. Marianem Bednarkiem i byłym wieloletnim duszpasterzem - ks. Janem Piechoczkiem, przedstawiciele samorządu na czele z prezydent Sabiną Nowosielską i wicestarostą Józefem Gismanem, senator Grzegorz Peczkis oraz wnuk głównej fundatorki świątyni - ks. Kraft zu Hohenlohe-Oehringen wraz z synem. Grupę potomków śląskich osadników z Teksasu przywiózł zza oceanu ks. Franciszek Kurzaj.
