Maciej Matyjasek brązowym medalistą mistrzostw Europy w ratownictwie wodnym. Zawodnik MUKS WOPR Kędzierzyn-Koźle wraz z kolegami z kadry narodowej wywalczył trzecie miejsce w sztafecie w holowaniu manekina.
Podopieczny trenerów Jędrzeja Janyka i Bogdana Stańczyka otrzymał powołanie do juniorskiej reprezentacji Polski i wziął udział w mistrzostwach Europy rozgrywanych we włoskim Riccione. Podczas imprezy wychowanek MUKS WOPR popłynął w aż czterech finałach, gdzie indywidualnie uplasował się na 6 pozycji, a w pozostałych sztafetach dwukrotnie zajął piąte miejsce.
Był to niezwykle udany debiut młodego sportowca w zawodach o tak prestiżowej randze. Poniżej szczegółowo prezentujemy osiągnięcia Macieja Matyjaska:
- 3 miejsce w sztafecie 4 x 25 metrów holowanie manekina
- 5 miejsce w sztafecie 4 x 50 metrów z przeszkodami
- 5 miejsce w sztafecie 4 x 50 metrów z pasem ratowniczym
- 6 miejsce w konkurencji 200 metrów z przeszkodami
