Złoci medaliści z Kędzierzyna-Koźla na Mistrzostwach Europy

W Toruniu rozegrano Halowe Mistrzostwa Europy Masters w lekkiej atletyce. Na starcie stanęli zawodnicy z całego kontynentu, a doświadczeni sportowcy rywalizowali o każdy centymetr i każdą setną sekundy. W tych zmaganiach mocno zaznaczyli swoją obecność reprezentanci Kędzierzyna-Koźla.
Dwóch mieszkańców miasta stanęło na najwyższym stopniu podium. Po złote medale sięgnęli sprinter Henryk Szymura oraz kulomiot Mariusz Gałązka.
Henryk Szymura w finale biegu na 60 metrów przez płotki w kategorii M70 wystartował z szóstego toru: jednego z najbardziej korzystnych w stawce finałowej, zarezerwowanego dla czołowych zawodników eliminacji. W decydującym biegu potwierdził wysoką formę, pewnie zwyciężając z czasem 10,37 s.
Z kolei Mariusz Gałązka w konkursie pchnięcia kulą (M35) zaprezentował dojrzałość i taktyczne podejście. Stopniowo budował wynik, by w ostatniej próbie osiągnąć 15,31 m, co zapewniło mu zwycięstwo i złoty medal.
